Branch Support Meetings

The Leicestershire and Rutland Branch holds various meetings for people with MND, their carers and others affected by the disease. Further details can be found on the News and Events page of the website or in the newsletter. Association Visitors are also in attendance to welcome those attending the MND clinic at LOROS.

Open meetings

These general support meetings provide an opportunity for people living with MND, their carers, family and friends, to come together in a friendly, informal environment to talk and share experiences. Some of these meetings are held at the LOROS Hospice. Others are held at venues which provide an interesting venue for a social gathering, such as a garden centre. Details of these open meetings can be found on the News and Events / Branch Meetings page of the website or in the newsletter.

Family and Friends

Family and Friends are also affected when someone close has been diagnosed with MND. We know they are dealing with a very difficult diagnosis so we want to help carers and others close to them cope with the situation. In conjunction with the MND team at LOROS, the Branch holds special events for carers, offering not only advice and support but also the opportunity to meet other people in the same situation who will understand the difficulties of caring for someone living with MND.

For more information and dates of support meetings for families and friends, see the News and Events/ Branch Meetings page,r contact Jenny Holmes-Shuttlewood on 0116 2883504 or 07973478358 or the MND nurses at LOROS.

Patients' Group

This is a friendly and informal group that has been set up by people who have, themselves, been diagnosed with MND. They meet once a month at LOROS during clinic mornings for a chat and mutual support.  It’s  held from 10.00am until 1.00 pm on the same day as the MND Clinic in the room next door.  Meeting dates can be found on the Branch Meetings and Local Events pages.
